latflap

Which muscles could be safely cut from their connections to move into the mastectomy bed to perform a flap reconstruction? The latissiumus dorsi, which gets its blood supply from an artery called the thoracodorsal artery, can be safely cut from its posterior attachment and brought around under the axilla to perform a flap reconstruction after a mastectomy or partial mastectomy. The rectus abdominus can also be used in a similar way, since it gets blood supply from above and below via the superior and inferior epigastric arteries.
