ICM-II: ABDOMEN, case 1

PHYSICAL EXAM:

  NG (nasogastric) tube in place, right IJ line exiting neck just anterior to the right SCM (sterno-cleido-mastoid muscle) with no evidence of infection, coarse crackles at both lung bases

HISTORY:

65 year old man in the hospital for a week of IV (intravenous) antibiotics for a kidney infection, with right IJ (internal jugular) central line in place. A new line was needed before discharge to a nursing home. The line was changed over a wire.

For each case, begin by deciding what TYPE of image you are being shown.  Think about the proper TERMINOLOGY to describe findings, given the particular modality. Then note any pertinent TECHNICAL factors or problems with the image. Think about the overall state of the PATIENT.
