What does a radiologist do?

introduction

A radiologist is a type of medical doctor who has special training in performing and interpreting radiologic images. After completing medical school, this extra training takes five additional years. A radiologist must also pass a special examination to become certified.

Radiologists may specialize in certain types of imaging studies or may do all different types of exams. Some subspecialty areas in radiology require one or two extra years of training and additional testing to become certified as a subspecialist.
