Set 5: vascular distribution, hilum

49 year old female, chronic shortness of breath and PND, new central line placement

Her cardiac silhouette is definitely enlarged, with NO lung visible to the left of the apex, and she has very large upper lobe vessels. This is highly suggestive of CHF.  When looking for vascular distribution, it is important that the patient is UPRIGHT. In the supine position, vessels will be equal in size in all parts of the lung. What do you think of her central line?
